New Flooring For Cardinal Newman College

We’ve got a fantastic relationship with Preston’s Cardinal Newman College having worked with them for many years replacing old flooring in some areas of the college as well as fitting new flooring in facilities that have been expanded.

This summer we were asked to replace the flooring in the main entrance hall and landing areas including the reception area, the Head’s landing and the administration block in accordance with the period style of the building.

To maintain the Victorian style we selected Origin, a blue tartan from Danfloor’s Evolution range, which has a contemporary look and feel.

We replaced all the anti-slip step nosings on the main staircase and door plates with brass too. The overall effect looks fantastic and fits perfectly with the architecture of the building.

The main entrance, reception and hallway were fitted out in a 1930s hard linoleum style welded floor which was supplied by Forbo industrial flooring. We chose an oak plank effect Polysafe welded floor for the administration wing to give the darker corridors a much lighter and more homely feel.

As with all education sector contracts, we were given a set timeframe whilst the students were away, especially as the main entrance and reception were being fitted out. We managed to install all the carpeted areas and the administration block over one weekend! This was followed by the entrance and reception area being installed the following weekend.

The college was delighted that the flooring emphasised the stunning features of the building, whilst ensuring it copes with the heavy footfall of a very busy college and adheres to all the safety standards required by an educational establishment.
