Amtico Flooring installed after refurbishment

Vicky Carson took full advantage of the Gainsborough Flooring home service to make sure the style, colour and grain of her selected flooring would flow right through the majority of her ground floor, which encompassed the kitchen, dining room, snug, as well as the hall, study, cupboard and toilet.

Eddy from Gainsborough Flooring advised her to wait until her kitchen was fully fitted before making a final decision so she could see it in a finished environment.

Refurbishing during lockdown certainly brought its challenges for many people and businesses, but it brought many positives too. These include such things as businesses adapting their working practices as well as being more flexible and accommodating. It also made people see things from a much more positive perspective, realising there are some things that are just out of everyone’s control.

This is what Vicky Carson experienced whilst renovating a large proportion of the ground floor of her home, which involved knocking through walls and fitting a new kitchen.

Once the construction work was underway Vicky was looking for new flooring for her kitchen. Not being able to visit showrooms as they were closed due to government restrictions, she utilised Gainsborough Flooring’s home sampling service, where they would drop a selection of samples off for clients to see in situ before making a decision.

Vicky took full advantage of this service to make sure the style, colour and grain of her selected flooring would flow right through the majority of her ground floor, which encompassed the kitchen, dining room, snug, as well as the hall, study, cupboard and toilet. Eddy from Gainsborough Flooring advised her to wait until her kitchen was fully fitted before making a final decision so she could see it in a finished environment.

This took somewhat longer than anticipated, as Vicky’s worktop was delayed by 8 weeks due to supplier issues, and though the kitchen fitters were kind enough to create a makeshift surface to enable her to use her kitchen she wasn’t able to have her hob and sink fitted until the worktop arrived.

Vicky opted for Amtico Spacia Hampton Oak for the whole area, which boasts a realistic wooden effect, complete with imitation grains and textures. Its superior tough coating and thicker than average wear layer makes it incredibly robust. It also benefits from being splash and spill resistant and is fully water-resistant which means it can be installed anywhere including high-moisture environments. It is very quiet to walk over making it suitable for use in high traffic areas such as the hallway.

Once everything was in situ there was a detailed and organised plan put together by the Gainsborough team to ensure minimal disruption during installation as the new flooring covered virtually the whole of the ground floor.

Vicky commented, “The team at Gainsborough were just amazing and the whole installation took just under a week which was very impressive considering the preparation that had to be done and the space they had to cover. I’m so pleased I made the last minute decision to include my office as the flooring looks just amazing and flows beautifully through the ground floor.”

The stunning flooring has not gone unnoticed by family and friends and Vicky commented, “Everyone has been really complimentary about the flooring and just love it.  Our next project is the ensuite, bathroom, stairs and landing. Following the builder’s advice we’ll install the flooring once all the other work is complete and of course won’t hesitate using Gainsborough Flooring again. We’re now much better at going with the flow and taking any challenges we’re faced with in our stride!”
