We’re not afraid of flooring challenges!
What makes us really rather unique in the flooring sector is that we’re not afraid of challenges.
We’ve been faced with many projects which initially look straightforward and turn out to be rather complicated and one such project was for a domestic client where we installed flooring in their dining room, lounge, hall and study.
During our first survey we picked up that the subfloor required some repair work, however, we hadn’t initially anticipated just how much!
The uplift revealed that all the wooden beams below had rotted and therefore needed replacing before we could start fitting the new floor. This pushed the installation back by a few weeks which required our team rearranging their schedules to ensure the flooring was fully prepared.
Once the new beams were installed, the subfloor needed further attention to get it level so the new flooring could run seamlessly throughout, which was achieved with only the slightest decline which was completely unavoidable. The subfloor was half wooden beams, which required plywood preparation and the other half required screeding.
Due to the complexity of the project, we carried out several site visits during and after the new beams were installed so we knew exactly what to expect before the fitting commenced.
Our team kept the client abreast throughout the entire process to ensure they understood exactly what we were doing and why.
The client selected Karndean Art Select Prairie Oak planks with a quadrant border for the entire area. Inspired by wood sourced from European Forests it has a beautiful array of pale earthy browns, with the lighter shades offering a stylish modern alternative to traditional oak flooring without losing the detail in the grain. A hand scraped emboss highlights the texture further, creating a realistic oak plank replication.
The quadrant border throughout produced a striking feature, delivering the unique flooring our client wanted, which was subtle, contemporary whilst also being inspirational.
