About Us

Gainsborough Flooring specialises in both commercial and residential installations of carpets, vinyl, Amtico, Karndean, contract flooring, wood, laminate and natural flooring.

We are a family run business, having been established for over forty years and based in Preston City Centre; our customers are regular, with repeat visitors often turning into firm family friends. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service.

We insist all our fitters have the correct qualifications and experience to fit all our flooring. For our excellent approach to Health & Safety, we are CHAS registered, and our fitters are CRB cleared for work in schools and colleges.

We are members of the Contract Flooring Association, and are approved contractors to Lancashire County Council, UCLAN, Cardinal Newman College, Preston City Council and Blackpool Borough Council.

Our extensive showrooms are a relaxing and friendly place to browse an almost endless selection of leading brand carpets, such as Brintons, Jacaranda, Ulster, Ryalux, Westex, Cormar to name a few and luxury vinyl tiles such as Amtico and Karndean. Dedicated to our industry, Gainsborough has all aspects of flooring covered, to suit everybody’s different needs.

Originally founded in the 1930s, Gainsborough Flooring is draped in history.

From the 1950s, under the name PMC (Carpets) Ltd, the company was based at 33 Shepherd Street, making sales to the trade. Many people in Preston claim to still have carpets in their home from this era!

Moving forward, to 1970, when Sheila and Eddy Brown settled on the name Gainsborough Flooring, which is now run by the brother and sister team of Eddy and Vicky. We are a true family business, with a huge number of years’ experience between us. We pass our advice on in a truly friendly, professional manner.

Now operating from new premises at 26 Heatley Street (see map)  (link to map) in Preston, Eddy and Vicky run the family flooring firm with a passion and pride they enthuse to their customers.

Numerous teams of fitters are on hand, each with expertise in different aspects of flooring to support Gainsborough to allow them to offer a standard of fitting their customers have come to expect.

Who We Are

Vicky Keelan

My passion is serving customers, both domestic and contract, and ensuring that they leave happy and confident with their new flooring choice. As a Mother of 4, I still find time to meet with the Preston Exchange Network and attend various Chamber of Commerce events throughout the year.”
